Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain was the sixth child of
Jane Lampton and John Marshall Clemens. Mark was born in Florida, Missouri on
November 30, 1835. Four years later, his father moved the family to Hannibal where
Mark grew up. While he was growing up, writing wasn?t what he dreamed of doing, he of
being a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River.

he heard that his eldest daughter Susy had died. The grieving family wouldn?t talk to
anyone, they wouldn?t say anything to each other either. When Twain paid off all his
debts, his family started to go out and talk to each other. Twain an d his family became
happy again. In June of 1904, Livy died, and Twain sold his house and moved to his final
home in Redding Connecticut. He died on April 21, 1910.
