The rights of the Australian Aborigines are an important and ongoing issue of Australia. Aborigines allowed for the first step in the recognition of Aboriginal rights in 1967, and subsequently the Mabo Decision of 1992 and the Native Title Act of 1993, the Bringing Them Home report of 1997 and finally, the first National Sorry Day in May 26 1998. Each of these brought about an understanding of the Aboriginal situation, acceptance of the Aborigines' human status and overall the immense recognition of Aboriginal human rights - the road towards reconciliation is nearing an end.
