The cold was creeping into Jonas's body. Dampening his spirits and his soul. Hunger infected his body. Gabriel's wailing screamed at his ears. The wind howled at him, preventing Jonas from trespassing into this strange landscape. An enclosing army of snow palpitated down on the two stragglers, gnawing into their skin, injecting acute pangs of chilliness. A curtain of mist lowered and trapped them in a blizzard. heat. Jonas's heart was pounding. Faster, faster, faster and finally they crossed the gate and made the road. Jonas vomited and spat but he had finally made the road. Jonas mustered all the strength and happiness and joy he felt and muttered to Gabriel, "We're free little Gabe, we are finally free".
Gabriel chuckled. Jonas smiled and hooted quietly with laughter. The two brothers surreptitiously embarked on the road that would take them to life.
