How deep this novel goes. All Quiet on the Western Front shows how the destruction of war can effect everything from mother nature to the mentality of the mind. Buildings blew up, soldiers died, earth was blasted way, and families were torn apart. Through the course of the novel all of Paul's comrades died including himself at the very end when it was all quiet on the western front.
