Some parts of Africa had plenty of water, but others never had enough water. Some places had enough water in good years but not in bad years. did grow great stretches of grassland, like American prairies. The people who lived here raised cattle that ate the grass, and then the people drank milk and ate meat. In West Africa, people farmed millet. In Central Africa was the great rainforest and south of them again more grassland. Here again it was too dry in many places for farming, but in the most southern part of Africa there was usually enough rain to farm.
