The defeat of the Axis powers by 1945 arose from a range of different reasons. Many tactical miscalculations by Axis leaders and new Allied technologies together with the strength and coordination of the Grand Alliance left Germany helpless by 1945. On the 7th of May 1945, an unconditional surrender by Germany brings the end to a six year long war which took the lives of millions of people all over Europe.
