The Berlin Wall
For 28 years the Berlin Wall separated friends, families, and nations. After the second World War in 1945, US, Britain, France, and Russia divided Germany into four sections into four sections controlled by an ally. The US, British, and French sections joined and formed a democratic state or West Germany.

On November 10, 1989 and on December 22, 1989 checkpoints were opened for pedestrians at the Potsdamer Platz and the Brandenberg Gate. On July 1, 1990 East and West Germany were united. All restrictions and travel between East and West Germany were dropped.
