Candide is a very interesting story to read about. Candide goes through many adventures. Some of them are funny, some are sad, and some are strange. Voltaire writes about how Candide experiences laughter and uncovers evils like arrogance, cruelty, selfishness, and immorality. This story reminds me of when I was young, and when I would think about little adventures I wanted to experience or dream about, and then I would hit reality!

much calmer and settles down to work. After a period of uncertainty and boredom, Candide, Cunegonde, Martin, Pangloss, Paguette, the old lady, and Girofle live on the farm purchased by Candide. They are quite satisfied. From their numerous experiences, they have realized that they must establish their own garden. They know by the end of the novel, that the only way to happiness is honesty and hard work, and not vague philosophy and unjustified illusions.
