In this essay I will be explaining and comparing the ways in which Pip, as a child, views Joe as he grows up, in "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. This is stated by Joe "...when he overtook the drink he hammered away at my mother." This shows us what pip had to cope with and builds Joe's and Pips relationship to another level. It makes Pip look up to Joe as his hero; because of everything he has been through.
