I find it hard to read this poem without feeling ashamed at deeds done, and having my heart go out to those tormented men. It made a powerful and essential statement that may have swayed the beliefs of many in the message stated with such calculated irony: 'The old lie: Dulce et decorum est Pro patria mori.'
