During 1929, the United States was experienced the Great Depression. It was the worst economic decline ever in U.S. history. President Herbert Hoover tried to fight the Great Depression, but didn't make much difference. Many fearful citizens wanted a leader who would do more to lighten the crisis. America. There many causes of the Great Depression. The depression started because of the easy credits, the unequal distribution of wealth and the stock market crash. The economy was affected by the failure of a large part of the nation's banks, businesses, and farms. However, Franklin D. Roosevelt 's new deal policies helped America to get out of this economic collapse and Franklin D. Roosevelt was the most influential presidential leader of the twentieth century.
