If Henry Clay had been elected President of the United States many things may have turned out different. He was against President Jackson's war with the Seminole Indians, and he was for the national bank and making internal improvements at national expense. He was against the war with Mexico. It is possible that we could have developed a better relationship with the Indians and Mexico if Henry Clay had been elected.
