Everything started with organisation in a relatively civilised manner. Slowly this broke down and civilisation went in a downward spiral. This is exactly what happened in war, but instead of civilisation, which was the main key, it was organisation. Golding wanted to communicate to the reader the extent of damage and destruction that war can bring.
