they did not know whether knowledge was possible; they suspended judgment on the issue. However it is impossible for humans to know nothing about the world we live in. there are some things individuals do know, Mathematics for example. However I believe it is strictly limited and without sufficient evidence to prove it's knowledge, it would be considered as a belief. Understanding, believing, and proving a belief and individual holds distinguishes a belief from knowledge.
