If someone came up with a way to double bind a witness, then someone else should come up with a way to counteract; otherwise, the witness should not take the stand. In fact, this is why many people do not. It is safer this way, even though there is, as previously mentioned, a preconceived notion as to why a witness chooses to not take the stand.
