The idea of a girl living on a small island with her family and friends (even though she has none) will right away tell you that it's like a life story and has a homey effect, at least for me if you have no idea what I'm talking about. If the setting is that important to the plot, then the author must have thought long and hard to get this story together so flawlessly.
