The origins of the Kennedy family are in Ireland. John Fitzgerald's grandgrandfather Patrick Kennedy emigrated to the USA in 1848. His grandson, JFK's father Joseph Kennedy, was a wealthy financier who later worked both as an assistant of president Franklin Roosevelt and as the Ambassador to Great Britain. John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born to Joseph Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald on May the 29th, 1917, in Massachusetts.
