Joseph Goebbels (1897-1945) was born into a working-class, Catholic family from the Rhineland. He went to a Roman Catholic School and studied history and literature at the University of Heidelberg. During World War I, Goebbels was rejected for military service because of a crippled foot caused by his childhood polio. It is said that he spent the next two days crying in his room.

later on, Hitler appointed Goebbels Reich Chancellor, just before he committed suicide. Like almost everything he had done in his adult life, Goebells did the same as Hitler, after having his six children poisoned with a lethal injection by an SS doctor and having his wife shot by an SS Guard. Shortly before his death, Geobells said, "We shall go down in history as the greatest statesman of all time, or as the greatest criminals."
