Adams was a very important man. Without his influence, the American history would have stopped a long time ago. On July 4, 1826, the fiftieth anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Adams in his last words, whispered, "Thomas Jefferson survives." But Jefferson had deceased at Monticello a few hours prior to his death.
