In July 10, 1509, John Calvin was born. Three years later his mother died. John was raised and surrounded by the Catholic church. His father became the secretary to Bishop de Hangest. Calvin got his schooling from College des Capettes. In 1523, the bubonic plague struck the city and Calvin had to escape and continue his learning in Paris. There he began his studies at the College de la Marche of the University of Paris. His schooling was

for his preaching. Angry and discouraged, Calvin traveled back to the peaceful city of Basel to rest, study, and write. Soon after that, he returned to Strasbourge where he settled down and was married to a widow named Idelette de Bure.
On Christmas day, 1559, Calvin collapsed, from years of little sleep and constant labor. Calvin had contracted tuberculosis. Calvin lived almost four more years and preached his last sermon on February 6, 1564, and died on May 27, 1564.
