John Marshall fought in many court trials during his lifetime, such as: Marbury vs. Madison in 1803;McColloch vs. Maryland in 1819; Dartmouth College vs. Woodward in 1819; Cohens vs. Virginia in 1821; Gibbons vs. Ogden in 1831; and Cherokee Nation vs. State of Georgia in 1831. Three years after the Cherokee Nation vs. State of Georgia trial, John Marshall died.
