However, I agree that the crimes committed by Leopold and his associates under the umbrella of humanitarism are deserving of serious study even if the reputation of this King is besmirshed. Just as Hitler went to his grave believing he did the right thing for Germany, Leopold left this earth believing he brought civilization to the Congolese. Both of these people were sick and poor excuses for human beings.
