We are living in an age of propaganda. One cannot live a day of their lives without being exposed to some form of propaganda in some facet of the media. As a supporter of the ACLU, I agree with everything said in this statement. Regardless if one supports a writer's position or not, no one has the authority to censor such a position. Yes, words and ideas can be dangerous. But the suppression of words and ideas is even more dangerous. "The suppression of ideas is fatal to a democratic society. Freedom itself is a dangerous way of life, but it is ours" (ALA 139).
