The idea behind legal punishment is the intent to deter people from committing the crime based on the simple fact that they will be punished accordingly to the level of the crime committed. However, in the case of the death penalty one must assess the situation accordingly. man lost all his natural rights and deserves to be punished far worse than the crime committed since the woman did nothing to the man. If a man beats a woman on the street he deserves to die simply because is doing nothing to better society and is only a plague to mankind. It goes along with the saying "If you aren't a part of the solution then you are a part of the problem.
