After reading multiple books for the Reading program I decided to analyse in greater detail regarding the topic of how novels use conventions of their form to construct character. During a conflict the conch shell is smashed showing the destruction of order and the beginning of savagery. Jack and his sidekick Roger are part of the Hunter group and they represent anarchy, savagery and evil. They express these personalities throughout the story by torturing the little children and even killing the two characters; Piggy and Simon.
