Elizabeth and Darcy gained insight, got married and lived happily ever after. In a sense, they helped eachother gain understanding: could it have been love at first insight? The lesson learned here is that if we don't reflect on ourselves, like Elizabeth and Darcy did, and if we choose not to change ourselves, like Mrs. Bennet, Eddie from "Ab Fab" and the Ferry in "Late Ferry" did, we're destined to live a dissatisfying, unfulfilling life.
