Have you ever wanted something so bad, that you would do anything to get it? Would you go to death defying heights? In the play Macbeth, William Shakespeare introduces to his audience many such characters. It is clear that the following specific characters: King Duncan, Thane of Cawdor, Banquo, Lady Macbeth, and Macbeth, were the cause of their own downfall.

Macbeth's fate was fair, but it's unfortunate so many people had to die before his fate could stop the murders.
In conclusion, all of these Shakespearean characters were the cause of their own downfall. Each in their own way destroyed themselves over either something they wanted or something they were promised. All consequences were blinded with greed. I agree with Antiphanes when he said: "The quest for riches darkens the sense of right and wrong."
