It is extremely difficult to evaluate the main characters in terms of good and evil, what is more it is even difficult to define these two terms. Forrest Gump would say "Stupid is who stupid does" but it is not necessarily the truth this time. In Unforgiven a man who "presumably" does good is not always a good man and the one who is an evil man not always does evil.
