One being what we now know as the New England area whose motive for settlement was for religious freedom, type of settlers were large white families with indentured servants, and had a self-government under local control. Where as the Chesapeake region varied by being majority of young white men hungry for gold, and had a representative self-government as well as slavery. Proving why the difference in development of the two regions occurred.
