Good morning. Today I am here to talk to you about the historical, cultural and social contexts in which a text is created. Two texts which reflect these contexts are Shakespeare's Hamlet and Stoppard's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. As you are aware these are the two texts we have been studying this term. …showed last 75 words of 646 total…but also to the cold war and the nature of war can be seen in the players, and their need for blood. 'Blood is compulsory. They're all blood you see'. Stoppard uses these subtle references to comment and reflect the modern day society that he was living in at the time.
