In the year 1970, it was illegal in many states in the U.S. for women to get an abortion, which a woman named Norma McCorvey sought to change. She was a Texas resident who was determined to end her pregnancy through abortion and strongly believed that the Texas law which criminalized abortion went against women's Fourteenth Amendment right to choose whether to continue a pregnancy. a right to privacy and groups were formed who were dedicated to supporting the rights as necessary women's equality and personal liberty. However, many religious groups opposed to the new law and protested. They formed "pro-life" groups and were against abortions.
A change of opinion occurred when the anonymous plaintiff, Norma McCorvey or "Jane Roe", decided to join the pro-life movement on August 10, 1995. She also converted to Christianity and now fights in making abortions illegal.
