The problem of evil was first conversed by the Greek philosopher Epicurus 371-270. From then, many philosophers and theologians have struggled with the problem of evil, against Gods existence, causing some such as the French philosopher Jean Paul Sartre 1905-1980 to state that God does not exist. Dostoevsky in The Brothers Karamazov. This book rejects the view that the suffering of a child can not be justified by bringing happiness to anyone. He says in this book that the wickedness of freewill is too much. The two theodicies mentioned above try to defend Gods virtues against doubts of his existence when looking at natural evil, but in very different ways. Both are equality viable but come against the same number of criticisms.
