He was buried in Beechwood Cemetery.
With little training in surveying and engineering, Fleming came to Canada, and became the chief engineer of the Northern Railway. As chief he came up with the idea to build the railway to the Pacific. He also gave many other contributions to Canada like the first adhesive postage stamp, the 24 equal time zones, and other smaller projects. We should remember Fleming for the many gifts he gave to Canada.
