Then 4 days later, Kennedy starts planning a military attack on Cuba and on that day he receives a letter from Khrushchev offering to dismantle the sites if Kennedy would lift the blockade. 28th of October Khrushchev and Kennedy agreed and the crisis finished. During this time, the antagonism between US and Cuba was so great that it almost led to a war.
