But between the plot points, the book speaks to many important themes in American life including idealism, aspiration, and disillusionment with the American dream. On another level, Fitzgerald addresses a more philosophical and disconcerting realization that our dreams are often illusions, founded on romantic ideals easily crushed by harsh reality.

work hard enough. I want them to not take things for granted because people from other countries aren't lucky like them. This is an endless dream because you can never truly achieve it. It would take a tremendous amount of effort (and it is nearly impossible) to teach everyone in America and that's why it cannot be achieved. But there is hope that one day everyone will realize the truth and my dreams are fulfilled.
