In the classic The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa is transformed into a "monstrous vermin." The basic needs of this individual are mostly neglected. Before Gregor's metamorphosis, his basic needs of food, shelter, water, sleep, oxygen and relationships were only half met. After his great transformation, almost none of his basic needs were met. In order for one to function properly and survive in society, ones basic needs should be met to the full.

that he would, in turn, die.
Gregor's basic needs were not met to the full, as they should have been. Basic needs are required for one to be a successful, healthy member in society. Maybe the neglect of these basic needs in this novel suggests the reason for Gregor's metamorphosis and later his death. No person deserves to be neglected as Gregor was; a person's needs must be met.
