The Gilded Age was an age of corruption. It was run by political machines, local groups wanting to ensure their party stayed in power. The political machines were a feudal system in themselves. At the top of the political machine was the boss, such as Boss Tweed, a well known boss for his corruption in New York. <Tab/>The Gilded Age suits the decade very well because everything was glorified but yet it was the exact opposite. The poor remained poor and in some cases got poorer. Political machines controlled all that happened during the Gilded Age.
