"The Lysistrata" presents women taking matters into their own hands against men who seem bent both on destroying their family life by staying away from home for long periods of time while on military campaign. The women also felt the men were prolonging a pointless war.

ancient Greek play were staged at various places all of the world in protest of The War in Iraq. A small group came up with the idea and before they knew it, an estimated 225,000 people in 59 countries and all 50 states had created the "Lysistrata Project": The first-ever worldwide theatrical act of dissent.
