On January first, 1912 the Republic of China was established, signaling the end of the Manchu-dominated Qing Empire. Sun Yat-sen of the Kuomintang, was proclaimed provisional president of the republic. The Nationalist regime alianated many sections of the Chinese society, even their formor supporters by their incompetence, brutality and corruption. The Communist Party would have returned after being driven away to the Yanan, wether the Japanese had invaded or not. The people of China deserved an equal oppurtunity to live and grow.
