The main character in the play "Macbeth', written by William Shakespeare, wasMacbeth. In the play, Macbeth suffered a failure in the end with his wife Lady Macbeth. The cause of it was mainly his overwhelming ambitions and greed. Macbeth's main intention was plotting to be King of Scotland and removing obstacles said to be harmful to him in the prophecies. Such intention had brought himself to end in the tragedy.

Macbeth downfall was caused by his ambitions and greed. At the end, he was assasinated by Macduff. During the fight, he became fearful when Macduff told him that he
was not from his mother's womb, because one the prophecies told him to not fear anyone from a mother's womb.. The prophecies did came true, but Macbeth was being so ambition
and overconfidenced, he never thought his downfall is the real meaning of the prophecies.
