Thucydides was one of the greatest Greek historians of the ancient Greeks. He did most of his work around 400 B.C. and he was a citizen of Athens. He was most famous for his History of the Peloponnesian War. He fought in the war and became a general. The war lasted for 27 years, from 431 to 401 B.C. In Thucydides opinion he thought that the Greeks fought the hardest they ever had during the war.
