Vibrational data discussion on the Adsorption of Phosphate on Pt(111) and Pt(100) studied in situ FTIR spectroscopy
Vibrational data on adsorbed anions contribute to the description of the electrochemical double layer as well as add to the physiochemical properties of the electrified surface. In this study, phosphoric acid is one of the best systems to monitor. In a previous study, it was discovered that the nature and geometry of the phosphate species is dependant upon applied potential. Using cyclic voltammetry and in situ FTIR spectroscopy, the adsorption of phosphate species on a …showed first 75 words of 814 total…

In conclusion, the author and partners prove, in this experiment, that in mild acidic solutions (at pH of 2.8, as in the first part), the same modes are observed in the spectra for both Pt(111) and Pt(100) surfaces. Also the same v - E behavior was the same in both platinum crystals. This experiment was very interesting to read through, since we could imagine what species are dominating at either pH solution.
