After four years, three months and fourteen days of the prolonged First World War, the Germans surrender and signed an armistice on November 11th, 1918, as a result of the civilians who were ecstatic to see an end to their starvation. Whether a lenient treaty would've prevented the Second World War, we will never know. All I can say is that the humiliated terms of the Treaty of Versailles had other motives behind the peace agreement. These selfish motives not only lead to the hardship of Germany, but to a horrific second war.
