But perhaps the biggest reason why the armada failed was because of King Philip himself. He insisted that he individually controlled the armada's mission. He did not allow his military leaders to make there own tactics. And he did not pay attention to advice. He thought god guided him, and therefore the Armada would succeed in battle.
