That was around the same time the Germans surrendered to France unconditionally to end World War I (which I got out of my own knowledge). Approximately three and a half years later, Whilhelm Conrad Roentgen died on February 10, 1923 from carcinoma of the rectum. He was buried beside his wife at the family plot in Giessen.
