Intelligentsia or Intelligentsiac? The Intelligentsia within Russia began as early as December 14, 1825 when the Decembrists were put down at the hands of loyalist troops commanded by Nicholas I. From the tragedy that befell the Decembrists, a movement would spring forth that would strive for a Russia where justice and equality were rights to be had by all. …showed last 75 words of 401 total…a chance that his reforms that he signed on the day of assassination may have prevented the movement that resulted in the Bolshevik revolution. I feel that the Intelligentsia did bring about the changes they sought. Unfortunately, the radical element had the loudest voice and calmer voices did not speak. This produced the revolution that brought about the USSR. We can only wonder what the world may have been like had the moderate voices prevailed.
